Why am I a community builder?
👋 A few months ago I started introducing myself as a 'community builder', when I reflected upon the work I am doing. I bring people together. I connect people. Create a space for belonging. My purpose for building a community was to address #genderbalance but in the past 2.5 years I have realised that it is so much more. Knowing that you are not alone is an incredibly powerful feeling and my motivation. To see each other grow and collaborate together. To offer that support system that I felt I did not have when I was developing my corporate career.
How am I buildingcommunity?
🧐 There are so many ways to build community, toshare knowledge and resources and I have a way to bring people together and create safe spaces that is hard to describe, but here are a few things I am
going:
🏔 Host of an international hospitality podcast
🏔 I have run 23 in-person events in 10 differentcities.
🏔 A global online network with over 100 members inthe Inspire Community
🏔 Speaker at events
🏔 Moderator of panels
What is the impact?
🔦 You will sense a theme, it all comes back tovisibility. Visibility on the topic of #genderbalance. To engage with the women and men of our industry to make an impact on representation. Shining the light on the work we are doing collectively as a community, as we all have a part to play. To speak with one shared voice.
