Why am I a moderator?

🫵 Because when it comes sharing the messages ongender balance and inclusive leadership, there are more voices than mine to hear from. I have had the honour to share the stage with some inspiring people from our industry, with unique perspective to share and as moderator I get to
shine the light on them.

How I became a moderator?

I will break thisdown into three parts: Skills required | Who to have on your panel | How to
prepare

🍁 What skills are needed for moderating?

Curiosity, goodlistening skills and the ability to craft good questions are foundational to being a moderator. Being a moderator requires your to be attentive and completely focused on the conversation, which is why I think it is actually harder than being a panellist. Your role is to be the facilitator of the discussion.

🍁 Who to choose?

I have beenfortunate that for most of my panels I was able to select the panellists that I
wanted to invite for our discussions. You will notice from the images I have
shared that they have all been mixed gender panels, because when it comes to
gender balance or inclusive leadership, we need everyone to be part of the
conversation. Also mixed panels means that we can inspired and attract a wider
range of audience members. There is someone in there for everyone.

🍁 How to prepare your panel?

🏔 Get to know your panellists. What message theywant to share

🏔 Bring everyone together for a prep call ahead ofthe panel for everyone to get to know each other.

🏔 During the panel discussions your role is to bepresent, listen to what is being said.

🏔Look at the reactions of your otherpanellists, as you may need to invite them to the conversations.

What is the impact?

🔦 Visibility. Not only for me as the moderator, butalso for my panellists. An opportunity to be in the spotlight and share their insights. Visibility on the topics that are important to me: gender balance and
inclusive leadership. And wherever I can I prioritise giving visibility to the women in my community and for them to champion the male allies in their network.
