Why did I become a podcast host?
🎙 I wanted to create a platform where women'sstories and career journeys in hospitality can be heard? I love interviewing.
My natural curious nature means I never run out of questions, but I do keep each conversation to 30 mins each.
🎤 And I say conversation, because that is how Istructure it. It is a conversation between two people getting to know each
other. I share my own stories throughout the recording and our listeners get to hear my guests career journey, learnings along the way and their inspiration.
🤩 I believe that everyone has the capacity to beinspiration, you just need someone to believe in you.
And how did I do it?
🎙 Aside from figuring out all the technical side oflaunching a podcast, my first hurdle was to get over my imposter syndrome. Who am I? Why would anyone want to share their story with me? First few times I asked, I did get 'no's'. I did practise sessions at the beginning, not only to allow my guest to be comfortable, but also for me.
📽️ I also went for 'taking action' rather than going after perfection. In an ideal world I would have a studio, production team,
editors, etc to help me produce each episode. What was more important to me was to start sharing the stories. What I have learnt is that there is no one way of launching a podcast.
What is the impact?: Visibility
🙋♀️ When I started on my journey of gender balance Iwas surprised by how few female leaders we had in senior roles. The work I have done through my podcast has taught me that not only are there many incredible women in hospitality and also in leadership positions, we were lacking the visibility.
🎙 This podcast is my way of being of service to theindustry and women to shine the light on their stories and create a data bank of role models to be inspired by.
